THE NEW YORK PROPOSAL

On Christmas Day of 2013 Ollie told me he was taking me to PARIS on Valentines as a Christmas present!!! As you can imagine I was overly excited and would not shut up about it, Paris here, Paris there, even the count down was intense LOL

February 13th-  We woke up at 4am and went to Gatwick airport. Once we got there we had to look for our flight, I couldn't see Paris anywhere, then Ollie reenacted the scene from Goodfellas and asked me how money much I wanted =P
Then, as I open my eyes to look at how much cash he'd saved ... There wasn't Euros! BUT DOLLARS!!!!
WE WERE GOING TO NEW YORK!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

As we were checking in our bags I was crying, I was so ecstatic, I didn't know what to do with myself.
The flight to Paris would have only been like an hour but the flight to NYC was 8 hours, and for those 8 hours, I couldn't sit still!

When we arrived, there was a beautiful, thick blanket of snow. America recently had a flurry of snow storms and in some places it was 15" thick!!!!
We got a taxi to our hotel and we went past the Empire State Building and when we arrived, our hotel was gorgeous! The concierge was AMAZING and so helpful! we got all of our stuff into our room and as we were so tired we got pizza delivered to our room! It was HUGE and we went to sleep once we unpacked and scoffed our faces =D

February 14th/Valentines Day - We woke up really early and Ollie has always mentioned to me about how amazing bacon and egg McGriddles were, so we went to McDonalds and I had my first one, which lead to many more throughout our holiday! They were bloody gorgeous!!!! Egg, bacon, in between pancakes that has syrup tunnels in them YUMMY!!!
After there we decided to have a walk around and get our bearings, where we STUMBLED across the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING!!!! It turns out our hotel wasn't that far away!!!!

We did the tour and paid extra to go up to the tippy top!!! It was stunning, I mean it must look beautiful usually but seeing it after the snow storms with white on the ground and covering the rooftops, it was truly spectacular.
You could see everything up there, the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park ... EVERYTHING!
Once we left the Empire State Building we went to the Wendy's opposite as I'd always wanted to go Lol (the drinks were the size of buckets!!!)
We then popped back to the room to prepare for where we were going next... CENTRAL PARK!!!!

As we arrived Ollie got us a horse and carriage to take us around Central Park, and Oh My God was it beautiful!!! Pure white snow and so thick that you couldn't sit on a bench because the snow came up higher than the seats!!!

We got to a certain point and Ollie asked to stop and walk for a bit, so we did, he took me to the Gapstow Bridge and got down on one knee in the snow and asked me to MARRY HIM!!!
I said yes before he even opened the ring box!!! I cried and cried and hugged and squeezed and cried some more for about half an hour, we didn't leave that spot whilst I gathered myself, I was on top of the world and I couldn't handle it!!!
And both me and Ollie are so grateful for the lady who took the photo
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
She came over after and said she'd email the picture over, I cant ever thank her enough!!!

Once I'd gathered myself, stopped hyperventilating and stopped telling Ollie how happy this had made me, we walked around the rest of Central Park, looking at how absolutely gorgeous it was and I was thinking how lucky I am to have a man who would go through so much trouble for me; organising, getting my friends involved, keeping secrets, and saying he was taking me to Paris. He had out done ANY man I know, have heard of or could ever even imagine for myself! And, to this very day, I still can't get over this RING!!!

IT'S PERFECT!!!!
I've always wanted a 3 stone ring as it represents Past, Present & Future and Ollie and I have had a wonderful past that has made us who we are, there is soo much love in the present, and I cannot wait to see what our future holds.

We went back to the room and Ollie said he spoke to the concierge and she knew someone who owned a Michelin Star Restaurant and we would have Champagne when we arrived... BUT OMG do you think we could hail a cab?!?!?! For 45 minutes we were searching for a bloomin' cabbie with their light on, but in
New York on Valentine's day, It's VERY busy!
We called and cancelled and had dinner at the restaurant next door to our hotel, where they served the STRONGEST drinks I've ever had ... 2 cocktails and I was out!!
We then stumbled back to our hotel room and ... Went to sleep ^^

February 15th - We thought we'd give McDonalds Breakfast a break and go to a café, it was gorgeous!
And like a true Brit I had to have a cuppa!!

I had Eggs Benedict for the first time and it was awesome, with a side of Pancakes, Bananas and Bacon.... And POTATOES?? WTF Who eats potatoes in the morning??? LOL
The plan for the day was to go to Times Square and shop and eat and have a blast!!!
We made our journey to Times Square and upon getting out of the taxi we saw a McDonalds and proceeded to have our daily McGriddle ... We had only had breakfast around 30 minutes previous!!
Once we were done scoffing our faces we popped into Toys R Us which, in my opinion, is the best store EVER! It had everything, Spider-man, A T-Rex, Minions, A Barbie Dream House, Hulk, and Optimus Prime!!!!
Once we left the toy store we ventured further around Times Square, and then, it started to snow! It was beautiful and it was pure perfection, walking around, in the snow, with my wonderful Fiancé, in the
Big Apple!
We saw Bubba Gump Shrimp, The Hard Rock Café and we met Woody, Elmo, Mickey Mouse and a WONDERFUL NYPD Police Officer, he was so lovely asking how our holiday was and if we were having a nice time, he was the perfect guy to have a snap shot with ...

Once we'd had a look around we went to the Rockefeller Center and had a wonderful lunch/dinner, The Burgers were HUGE and absolutely gorgeous, our waiter was fantastic and we felt our stomachs were going to POP!!! Soooooo much food!

And speaking of food... We had been collecting American "candy" and we had gathered quite a large selection of treats during our time and can I just say, American chocolate is MINGING!!!! Hershey's Kisses smell of sick, Twizlers are bland but Jeeeeeeeez Louise... Slurpee drinks are Awesomely Amazing!!! YUM!
We'd made many a trip to our local 711 and my favorite chocolate bar is the Take 5 bar ... it has pretzels and nuts and chocolate OMG drool!!! But obviously I LOVE TWINKIES!!!

P.S Cheetos are gross!

February 16th - We had to go back to our favorite café and have Eggs Benedict again and plan our day.
We went to Grand Central Station and It was GORGEOUS, the market in the station was amazing and Ollie and I got a doughnut, for a dollar each, and it was yummy!
We had a proper look around and the architecture was stunning =)
After walking around near the Station, having a look around all of the shops, we went to
CARRIE BRADSHAWS APARTMENT!!!!
I was made up, I know its just a building, but no-one knows how much I love those New Yorkers, I've watched every episode of every season at least 3 times and the films many MANY times.

Once I'd stopped squeaking we made our way to the 911 Memorial, which was a lovely yet sad occasion, what has replaced the buildings is beautiful, the waterfalls with the edges carved with the names of the peoples lives lost was a lovely way to commemorate the people involved.

Once we'd started to feel tired we had a look around Central Park again, playing in the snow, well, me falling over in the snow =) and getting a hot dog from a hot dog stand!

February 17th / The Last Day - We woke up and we were sooooo not ready to come home, but at the same time I couldn't wait to speak to everyone back in England! We had breakfast at our favorite little café and had pancakes, banana and bacon - PERFECT!
We did want to go to the New York Public Library the day previous, but it was Presidents Day so it was closed, but we HAD to go before we left.
It's the library where Carrie nearly marries Big, it also appears in Maid in Manhattan, Spider-man, GHOSTBUSTERS! and Breakfast at Tiffany's!!!

We went in the part of the library where they see the ghost in Ghost Busters, we also had a look around the museum part where they had a little Harry Potter section and they had the umbrella of the woman who wrote Mary Poppins! And they had an Alice in Wonderland section ... I had to walk through the rabbit hole LOL!
Once we left the library we went shopping, I couldn't believe I'd gone THIS LONG without a TWINKIE!!!
We ate at Wendy's again and Ollie got the 'Baconator' YUM!!!

We went back to our hotel and got the cab to JFK airport and started our journey home, I was sooo Ecstatic I must have worn myself out because I actually slept for a while!
We got home, had another nap LOL! Then we saw both of our families, it was very emotional ='D
We gave gifts, stories and showed the videos, and the video just after Ollie Proposed set off tears all round =)

This was the best experience of my life and I am so lucky to have Ollie, whose my partner, my other half, my universe and everything in it.

All of this was for the Proposal!!!

...

You Just wait for the Wedding!!!
